Introducing new things…

The class that we met today, January 31 at 1:00 in the afternoon is class X-6. After my fellow SEA teacher, John Lynton, and I have introduced ourselves, I was asked to share the Indonesian words that I know that has the same words and meaning in Filipino language, answered the questions of the students such as personal information, about our country, my favorite Indonesian foods, and others.

Ibu Wahyuni then continued their topic with them. Ibu Wahyuni started the class through asking them their previous topic. She let the students answer her questions not chorally but individually, students raised their hands when they wanted to recite.

Moreover, when they were asked what was the pattern of a sentence with “too and “enough,” the students also were given the chance to write on the board: first the pattern, then the sentence samples.

As they showed that they have really mastered the topic already, Ibu Wahyuni have given them their last activity for the chapter. We then guided the students in creating their script for their performance.

To end the class, we took our first group pictures together.

To continue our seminar with the English Club, we then proceed to the Aula and started the said event at 3:30. This time, my fellow SEA teachers and I talked about Philippines and its culture. I have shown them the main dishes of Philippines such as adobo, bulalo, silog, lechon, and others.

Also, I have shown them the famous tourist spots in the Philippines such as Boracay, Palawan, and our lovely province, Ilocos Norte, in the hopes that we could persuade them to come in our country and see each other again. On the other hand, my fellow SEA teachers talked about the Philippine dances, festivals, Flipino people, the Filipino language and others. As we were talking about these, the students were also telling us the similar places, foods, etc. of Indonesia.

Indeed, the two countries have their similarities and they have their own uniqueness!

As we have ended the seminar, the closing ceremony had begun. They had given their thank you message and then showed their gratefulness through performing an Indonesian traditional dance called Solah Madiunan.

Solah Mediunan is the name of original Madiun dance. Solah meansto act and Mediunan means a la Madiun city. It is performed to tell to the people the spirit of Madiunese which is dynamic, brave, but is gentle and firmed.

We then ended the ceremony as we took few pictures together.
