       2. ACADEMIC SUPPORT SYSTEM


The SMA Negeri 2 Madiun has been providing several support systems in order for the enrolled students improve their learning progress, be in par with their peers, meet learning standards or generally succeed in gaining knowledge that is useful not only in the school but also in the community. The school has gone to great lengths to make sure that every student has every opportunity to succeed. Thus, the said school provides students with wide variety of instructional methods, educational services or school resources such as the different laboratories that can be found in the school. All students have the same right to use school laboratories as long as the students are not breaking their schedule for learning in class. To help the students use their free time productively or make it as effective hours for learning, school laboratories can be used as means of information and learning development. Besides at break times, students can read/ study in the school library until 13.30 WIB/ 2:30 PM. They can be accompanied by a laboratory assistant or teacher mentor. Also, all of the SMAN 2 Madiun students have the right to borrow books by complying with the provisions applicable.


In addition, the types of academic services students can get at the school include:


  1. Service Orientation – that is service in the form of new student activities (MOS).

  2. Information Services – namely services in the form of giving information verbally and or non-verbal, both to students and parents.

  3. Content Mastery Services – namely in-service forms of remedial activities, enrichment, stabilization, try-out, etc.

  4. Placement and Distribution Services – namely services in the form of group or class distribution and channeling the potential, interests and talents of students so they perform optimally.

  5. Group Guidance Services – namely guidance classical with material about fast reading techniques, memorization techniques, etc.

  6. Group Counseling Services – namely in-service form of group discussions where each member in a group participate actively through discussing the problems they have chosen, so each group member can learn from the experiences of other group members. â€“

       3. TEACHING SYSTEM


The teachers of the said school teach with variety of methods when teaching speaking and writing activities. Also, they make sure that the things that they are learning in the school are not only to know the concepts, definition, subject matters and lessons but also to teach them how to utilize these in the real world.


The tasks or activities given to the students by the teachers include both individual tasks and group assignments so that students can also learn from their fellow classmates. They can discuss and accept different kinds of opinions.


Meanwhile, the implementation of teaching or learning activities can be done inside or outside the school environment during the schedule of that particular subject.


The teachers of the SMA Negeri 2 Madiun teach the students through using the following lesson plan format:


  1. Main Competence

    • All of the subjects have the same aspects.

  2. Basic Competence

    • Every subject is not the same.

  3. Purpose of the Lesson

    • It contains the goals of teaching. It deals with the basic competence.

  4. Materials of the Lesson

    • It shows the materials that the teacher wants to use.

  5. Method of the Lesson.

    • Usually SMAN 2 Madiun uses the scientific method, but for language lesson, the said method us sometimes not appropriate.

  6. Media of the Lesson

    • It displays the technology used in the lesson such as laptop, LCD, etc.

  7. Sources of the Lesson

    • The sources of information used and delivered by the teacher such as the kind of book utilized during the lesson.

  8. Steps of the Lesson

    • This includes the opening, main lesson, and closing. â€“



       4. MATERIALS AND OTHER LEARNING RESOURCES 


The school makes use of instructional materials such as books given by the government, projectors, laptops, speakers, white boards and others. The school also provides laboratories and rooms for different areas such as the following:

These learning resources/ rooms/ laboratories have been established inside of the school since book and printed materials are now believed to be not the only information resources nowadays. Indeed, within the mentioned spaces, the students can work collaboratively on projects provided by the teachers, with the goal to accomplish them in an allotted amount of time. These only prove that the school provides their students an opportunity to practice hands-on skills while involved in social interaction. â€“

       5. MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION SYSTEM


In order to come up with reliable and valid results of learning of the students, the systems used by SMA Negeri 2 Madiun in evaluating the students are the following:


  1. Assessment of student learning outcomes implemented refers to competency standards graduates for all subjects or groups subjects, which include attitude, knowledge and skills, depending on characteristics subjects.

  2. Assessment during the learning process takes place conducted periodically through: daily tests, midterm test, end of semester test and repeat class increases.

  3. Every student in the daily test who not yet reached KKM (Minimum Completion Criteria) must follow remedial for material of value.

  4. Every student has the right to receive return test results, daily tests, middle tests semester, end of semester test, and repeat increase class after being examined and commented on by educator.

  5. Scale values for knowledge and practice of using scale of hundreds and fraction value are rounded up.

  6. Scale of personality values, Very Good = A, Good = B, and Poor = C.

  7. Value Forms of Learning Outcomes Report = 5 (RNH) 3 (UYS) + 2 (UAS/UKK)


Daily Tests – Periodically held to measure achievement student competency after completing one KD or more.


Midterm Tests – Is an activity carried out by educators to measure achievement of student competence after carrying out 8-9 weeks of learning activities (Permendiknas No. 20 in 2007).


Final Semester Examination (UAS) – Is an activity carried out by educators to measure achievement of student competencies at the end of the semester with material coverage covering all indicators presented all KD in the semester.


Class Increase Test (UKK) – Is an activity carried out by educators to measure achievement of student competencies at the end of even semester with material coverage covering all indicators presented KD in the semester.


Indeed, the students are evaluated through tasks, tests, and exams. They get their report after each semester is done; this means that after 6 months of school. â€“

       6. GENERAL CURRICULUM


The school is under the ‘Kurikulum 2013 Revisi’ or the 2013 Curriculum.


Curriculum 2013 is a form of integrated work between reconstruction of passing grade competence, suitability and adequacy, expansion, advancement of the materials, learning revolution and evaluation reform.


In the said curriculum, there are 2 main competencies: (1) the main competency and (2) basic competency. The main competency has two (2) aspects which are the spiritual and social, while the basic competency is according to every subject. For main competency, in every lesson plan, the teacher must always include the above-mentioned 2 aspects. On the other hand, for basic competency, it is automatic that every subject is different as it has different topics.


The 2013 Curriculum presents the lesson plan format that is used by the teachers in the teaching and learning processes. It is divided into eight (8) schemes:


  1. Main Competence

    • All of the subjects have the same aspects.

  2. Basic Competence

    • Every subject is not the same.

  3. Purpose of the Lesson

    • It contains the goals of teaching. It deals with the basic competence.

       7. TEACHING PLAN (ENGLISH)


The materials that are taught to the students are stressed on language competence as means for communicating ideas and knowledge. The learners or the students are trained to read and comprehend the text presented, summarize and present it on their own words.


The format of the lesson plan that is used by the English teachers of SMAN 2 Madiun in the teaching and learning process is the lesson plan format provided in the 2013 Curriculum, but it has different basic competency:


  1. Main Competence

    • All of the subjects have the same aspects.

  2. Basic Competence

    • Every subject is not the same.

    • For English subject, the subject matters such as figures of speech, literary devices, language features of an event advertisement, structures of an advertisement, parts of speech, etc.

  3. Purpose of the Lesson

    • It contains the goals of teaching. It deals with the basic competence.

  4. Materials of the Lesson

    • It shows the materials that the teacher wants to use.

  5. Method of the Lesson.

    • Usually SMAN 2 Madiun uses the scientific method, but for language lesson, the said method is sometimes not appropriate.

  6. Media of the Lesson

    • It displays the technology used in the lesson such as laptop, LCD, etc.

  7. Sources of the Lesson
