Good morning, SMAN 2 Madiun!
On January 29 at 9:30 in the morning, Lynton and I have finally met our first students, class X-8. As it is our first time to be able to communicate and see each other, the students were given time to asked us questions. We introduced first ourselves using the Bahasa Indonesia language just like how Ibu Ermi taught us back then in our BIPA class.
And yes, the class was so happy as we were able to use their language even just for a bit. One of the students of the said class whose name is Happy even asked me to speak in Javanese: "Happy sempean ayu." The class was laughing so hard, I was wondering and one of her classmates translated it and said that it means, "Happy is beautiful." I thought, “gratefully, it is not only us who are happy about being here but also the students.”
After several minutes, Ibu Wahyuni started the class through letting the students recall their previous topic. Then, she gave them the last activity for the chapter. The task that was given to them is an evaluation task for their last topic, "too and enough." Thus, we were tasked to facilitate the activity, and evaluate the students' performance.
We then immediately came up with an idea whose team is going to perform first. We let the students draw from the box full of sheets of paper in which numbers were written. The students were given few minutes to prepare their script.
To evaluate the performance of the students, we made a rubric for the said performance.
The following criteria are the ones that are expected for the students to get:
Mastery - 15% Pronunciation - 20% Relevance - 30% Script - 20% Presentation -15%
After then, Lynton and I have given their final scores through getting the average of the scores that we have given.
On the other hand, as Lynton and I were asked to share our knowledge on the British accent and news writing to the English Club of the school, at 6:00 in the evening, I have prepared my part already in the lecture and that is on 'news writing.'
